Tiger-cats Sign Linebacker Tavarres And Defensive Back Sullen

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Monday that the football club has signed two international free agents, including linebacker Myke Tavarres and defensive back Jordan Sullen.
Tavarres, 24, signed as an undrafted free agent with the National Football League’s Philadelphia Eagles, attended training camp and played in four preseason games in 2016. The 6-1, 230-pound native of Lake Oswego, Oregon, spent the final season of his collegiate career at the University of the Incarnate Word where he led the Cardinals in tackles (110), tackles for loss (22.5) and sacks (8.5). He also played one season at the University of Arkansas in 2013.
Sullen, 26, attended training camp with the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015 and played in four preseason games before being released. He joined the Steelers late in 2014 after serving on the Chicago Bears practice roster. The 6-0, 200-pound native of New Orleans, Louisiana, originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos on May 10, 2014. Sullen had a four-year career at Tulane University (2009-11, 13) before turning pro, posting 96 defensive tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 20 pass break-ups, three interceptions and one forced fumble in 45 games (25 starts).
Both players will attend the Ticats three-day mini-camp which begins tomorrow at Tim Hortons Field at 11 a.m.
