In the second quarter of tonight’s game in Calgary, Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Henry Burris became the fifth player in Canadian Football League history to throw for 50,000 passing yards.

Burris joins Anthony Calvillo, Damon Allen, Danny McManus and Ron Lancaster as the only members of the CFL’s 50,000 passing yards club.

A veteran of 15 CFL seasons, Burris spent 10 years in Calgary (1997-99, 2005-11), three in Saskatchewan (2000, 2003-04) and the last two in Hamilton.  He has thrown for 32,191 yards as a Stampeder, 9,044 yards as a Roughrider and, entering tonight, 8,548 yards as a Tiger-Cat.

Heading into tonight’s game, Burris was on pace to eclipse his career-high and set a new team record with 5,726 yards after throwing for 3,181 in 10 games this season.
