Traded from the Edmonton Eskimos on February 5, 2013 along with QB Jeremiah Masoli and OL Greg Wojt in exchange for LB Nathan Kanya and the rights to OL Carson Rockhill.


2014: Signed as a free agent by the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings on February 12…released by the team on May 13…attended mini-camp with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals on a tryout basis on May 24…started 16 regular season games after re-signing with the Tiger-Cats on May 30…finished the season tied for fifth in the CFL in defensive tackles (78), while registering eight tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and one pass knockdown en route to being named an East Division All-Star and nominated as the Ticats Most Outstanding Defensive Player. Playoffs: Started in both of the Ticats playoff games, including the 102nd Grey Cup vs. Calgary…registered six defensive tackles.

2013: Played in 12 games, starting in 11, in his first season with the Tiger-Cats after being traded by the Eskimos on February 5....spent five games on the injured list and was listed on the 4-man reserve for one game…finished the season third on the team in tackles (52) and led the team in pass knockdowns (6), interceptions (3) and forced fumbles (3)...made Ticats debut at Toronto on June 28…recorded first career interception at Toronto on October 4…Playoffs: Started all three of the Tiger-Cats playoffs games, including their Grey Cup loss vs. Saskatchewan…had a total of 17 tackles in the playoffs.

2012: Played in 15 games, starting one, in his first CFL season with the Eskimos after signing as a free agent on January 10…spent two weeks on the injured list…made 15 defensive tackles, 11 special teams tackles and one fumble recovery…made his CFL debut on July 13 against Winnipeg. Playoffs: Started for the Esks at middle linebacker for their Eastern Semi-Final loss to Toronto...recorded six defensive tackles.

2011: Played three games for the UFL’s Las Vegas Locomotives after attending training camp with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

2010: Played eight games for the UFL’s Hartford Colonials after being selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2010 Draft…Signed with the NFL’s St. Louis Rams on April 26 and was released on May 24…signed with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles on June 8 and was released on August 28...signed with the NFL’s Chicago Bears on December 14 and spent three weeks on their practice roster before joining the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 30.

College Description

Played two seasons (2008-09) at Minnesota after two seasons (2006-07) at Valley Forge Military Academy…at Minnesota, he served as a defensive co-captain and recorded 151 tackles, 23 tackles for a loss, two interceptions and six quarterback sacks…was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection in 2009.… twice named the Seaboard Football Conference Player of the Year at VFMA.


Born on February 1, 1989 in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania…son of Amanda and Simeon Lawrence…played running back at Upper Darby High School.
