The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Wednesday the football club has signed American defensive back Patrick Levels.

Levels, 25, started all 18 games at SAM linebacker with the Montreal Alouettes in 2019 and was named an East Division All-Star after registering 86 defensive tackles, four tackles for loss, five quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles and four pass knockdowns.

The 5-11, 187-pound native of Dallas, Texas has played in 43 career Canadian Football League games with 23 starts over three seasons with the Calgary Stampeders (2017-18) and the Montreal Alouettes (2019), recording 122 defensive tackles, four tackles for loss, 14 special teams tackles, five quarterback sacks, one interception, 10 pass knock downs, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He has also appeared in two Grey Cup games (2017, 2018), winning one with the Stampeders in 2018.

Prior to turning pro, Levels played 51 games over four seasons at Baylor University (2013-16), registering 90 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and two pass breakups for the Bears.
