The Canadian Football League announced Wednesday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Dane Evans and wide receiver Bralon Addison have been named CFL Top Performers for Week 12.
Evans, 25, completed 31-of-37 passing attempts (83.8%) for a career-high 442 yards and two touchdowns, while adding four carries for 42 yards and a rushing touchdown in Hamilton’s 38-27 home win Monday versus Toronto. The 6-1, 218-pound native of Sanger, Texas completed 19 consecutive passing attempts in the second half to help the Tiger-Cats overcome a 24-11 halftime deficit against the Argos. Evans has now led Hamilton to four consecutive wins and is 4-1 as a starter this season.
Addison, 25, registered 11 receptions for 167 yards and caught both of Evans’ passing touchdowns on Monday in the Labour Day Classic. He also added five carries for 23 rushing yards. The 5-9, 197-pound native of Missouri City, Texas currently leads the CFL with 66 receptions this season, is tied for third with five receiving touchdowns and sixth in receiving yards (740). Through 11 games in 2019, the versatile offensive weapon is the only receiver in the CFL to have over 100 rushing yards.
Toronto’s Derel Walker, third in voting, joins Evans (1st) and Addison (2nd) as this week’s CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
