FIVE TIGER-CATS HONOURED AS EAST DIVISION ALL-STARS
Hamilton, Ontario – Five Hamilton Tiger-Cats have been honoured as East Division All-Stars today; Defensive end Justin Hickman, linebackers Renauld Williams and Jamall Johnson, receiver Chris Williams as well as kicker Justin Medlock.
Hickman led the CFL with 13 quarterback sacks this season, while also recording 46 defensive tackles, five forced fumbles and two tackles for losses. Hickman was the Ticats nominee for Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Defensive Player. This is Hickman’s first all-star nod.
Renauld Williams racked up a team-high 91 defensive tackles, five quarterback sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. This is the first time Williams has been named a division all-star.
Johnson finished the 2011 campaign with 77 tackles, six quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles and two pass knockdowns. Johnson was also named an East Division All-Star in 2009.
Chris Williams, the East Division’s Most Outstanding Rookie, led the Ticats with 70 receptions for 1,064 yards and also added six receiving touchdowns.
Medlock was successful on 49 of his 55 (89.1%) field goal attempts this season while maintaining a league-leading 37.4 field goal length average. In week 10, Medlock tied a team record with a 57-yard field goal in Montreal. This is his first all-star selection.
