TIGER-CATS ADD DEPTH TO TRENCHES
Hamilton, Ontario – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has signed import defensive linemen David Hicks, Ventrell Jenkins and Darius Powell as well as import offensive linemen Jack Julsing and Stefan Rodgers.
Hicks, a 6-2, 236-pound native of El Dorado, Arkansas, played four seasons (2003-06) at Grambling State before signing with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs in 2007. He also gained experience with the New York Giants and the Arena Football League’s Dallas Vigilantes.
Jenkins, a 6-2, 285-pound native of Orangeburg, South Carolina, amassed 11 tackles, 4.5 quarterback sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in ten games with the Arena Football League’s Jacksonville Sharks this year. He spent time with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals in 2009 after wrapping up his NCAA career at Kentucky.
Powell, a 6-3, 225-pound native of Waldorf, Maryland, recorded 36 tackles and 8.5 quarterback sacks at Fayetteville State in 2009.
Julsing, a 6-8, 310-pound native of Moreno Valley, California, spent the last two seasons at Arizona, suiting up in 15 games, after transferring from College of the Desert.
Rodgers, a 6-5, 317-pound native of Little Rock, Arkansas, has spent time with the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens since finishing his collegiate career at Lambuth in 2004. He was named first-team All-MSC in his senior season.
The Ticats also announced that the team has released import defensive lineman Jeremy Gibbs.
