TIGER-CATS RE-SIGN DEFENSIVE BACK DALY

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Wednesday the football club has re-signed national defensive back Mike Daly.

Daly, 28, played in all 18 regular season games with 17 starts at safety for the Tiger-Cats in 2018, registering career highs in defensive tackles (53), interceptions (tie-3) and passes defended (7), and posting his first career touchdown after returning an interception 58 yards for a score September 29 versus BC. He also started both of Hamilton’s playoff games at safety last season and was the team’s nominee for the CFL’s Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award for strength, perseverance, courage, comradeship and contribution to Canadian communities.

In 69 career CFL games over five seasons with the Tiger-Cats (2014-18), the 6-1, 189-pound native of Kitchener, Ontario has registered 77 defensive tackles, 31 special teams tackles, seven interceptions, one quarterback sack, one forced fumble and 11 passes defended. Daly, a McMaster University product, was selected by Hamilton in the sixth round, 45th overall, in the 2013 CFL Draft.
