TIGER-CATS SIGN ENTIRE 2019 CFL DRAFT CLASS & GLOBAL DRAFT SELECTIONS

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Wednesday that all eight of the team’s 2019 Canadian Football League Draft selections from earlier this month have been signed to a contract, including offensive lineman Jesse Gibbon, wide receivers Nikola Kalinic and David Ungerer III, running back Maleek Irons, defensive tackle Sheriden Lawley, defensive ends Derek Dufault and Malcolm Campbell, and longsnapper/linebacker Gordon Whyte.

The players were selected in the CFL Draft by the Tiger-Cats as follows:

ROUND OVERALL NAME, POSITION, SCHOOL NOTES
1 2 Jesse Gibbon, OL, University of Waterloo
2 10 Nikola Kalinic, WR, York University via MTL
2 11 David Ungerer III, WR, University of Idaho
3 22 Maleek Irons, RB, Ohio University
3 24 Sheriden Lawley, DT, University of British Colombia via BC
7 58 Derek Dufault, DE, University of Manitoba
8 65 Malcolm Campbell, DE, University of Toronto via TOR
8 67 Gordon Whyte, LS/LB, St. Francis Xavier University

Hamilton’s top-two selections both drew interest from National Football League teams earlier this month. Gibbon recently attended rookie mini-camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers and also had a workout with the New York Jets, while Kalinic attended rookie mini-camp with the Buffalo Bills.

The Ticats also announced that all four 2019 global draft picks have signed with the club, including defensive end Valentin Gnahoua from the CFL European Draft, and wide receiver Jose Noriega, and running backs Omar Cojolum and Luis Lopez from the CFL LFA Draft.
